Simply one of the most beautiful lakes in the Western Lake District. The scenery is second to none with the backdrop of Scafell Pike in the background. National Trust pay and display car park and facilities available in the valley within easy walking distance of the lake. Path to Scafell Pike might be difficult for the less physically able.

This place is literally heaven on earth, and one of the best places in the UK in my opinion. Ample parking spaces, but can get extremely full at the bank holiday or on sunny days. Small track road to get through from hard knots pass, which can take some time but other than that such a gorgeous place.

Amazing place! The views are spectacular. Quite a few places along the lake to pull into and maybe have a swim if you're brave πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ we were lucky enough to see the jets fly above! The water is super clear 🌊 …

We loved our visit to Wast Water, the views are just stunning! Plenty to do for families - we saw families paddling and swimming or you could try your hand at canoeing if you fancy it! We visited at the end of the summer holidays and it was pretty busy but there were still plenty of places to sit and have a picnic, if you wanted to. There is no car park but you can pull alongside the side of the road and park for free, or you could go on a bit further and use the National Trust car park at Wasdale Head (best car park if you're planning on getting to Scafell Pike). Bear in mind, there is a parking charge , unless you're a National Trust member and then you can park for free but make sure you validate your parking with your membership card. There are staff onsite to help with any queries. There are no shops, cafe or toilets at Wast Water but as with the car park at Wasdale Head , if you park there, you will find a small shop too, that did have a few sandwiches etc, mainly as there is a campsite too, so it's handy having that for anything you may have forgotten or run out of. There are toilets here too but we arrived just as the septic tank was being emptied and it was pretty revolting! But I'm sure it's fine most other times! Wast Water is an absolutely stunning place to visit, and if you're looking for spectacular views, then this place is an absolute must!

A stunningly dramatic lake and. valley leading to the foot of Scafell Pike. The national trust campsite there has a great shop for post climb treats. If you love a dramatic drive try braving the Wrynose and hardknott pass for exhilarating views if you’re traveling from the central lakes.
